Hetken Rauhaa (In Peace)

Here's a little bit of peace and harmony from Western Finland. A lucky accident happened to me in early summer 2018 when I captured a cuckoo bird (Cuculus canorus) on film. This video might give you a hint of the fact why Finnish people and tourists love summer cottages nearby lakes in Finland. Being closer to nature is something which usually helps people find the peace they need on vacation.

I truly hope that the beauty of our nature survives for many future generations. I hope someone is reading this after some hundreds of years and can still see and enjoy nature in real life and not only from old videos.

Matkalla Jonnekin (Travelling with the waters)

Release date: 8.12.2017

Instruments used:

- Takamine EG341SC acoustic guitar

- Clarke tinwhistle

- Shaman drum (handcrafted by Minna Murkka)

The beauty of the Finnish nature lies in diverse green forests and clean natural waters. All four seasons have their own characteristics here. This video was filmed in autumn 2016 in a forest located in Jurva (a part of Kurikka), Finland. I have spent much of my time in Jurva in my childhood and that is why I feel a strong connection with nature there. The release day was chosen to be on the 8th of December to celebrate the Finnish Music Day (the birthday of Jean Sibelius).

Clean water cannot be taken for granted in our modern world. It is devastating to hear and see the news how our oceans keep filling with plastic trash. I hope this video reminds us of what we have on our planet and how fragile our nature is. Life is depending on water. Life keeps constantly changing and evolving just like a forest stream.

We are travellers.

Ajasta Irti (Nature Time)

This video tells about taking a break and searching for inner peace from Finnish nature. It contains a message without spoken words. Do you have the time to stop for a moment in our hectic world?

The nature parts of this video were filmed in Björköby, Raippaluoto, Finland (Kvarken Archipelago, UNESCO World Heritage Site).

It was spring 2014 and I was struggling with everyday duties and a lack of time. I went to Björköby in Raippaluoto just to clear my thoughts and relax. I took my camera with me and got some nice pictures and video footage. After a couple of weeks I got a new inspiration with my acoustic guitar. The music sounded just like it was meant to be combined with these nature clips I filmed earlier. I wonder why and how it took so long to get this video finally finished and done. I guess it was meant to be like this. Sometimes some things in life take some time, more or less.

Today it is Saturday the 26th of August, 2017, as I write this video description and Finland is celebrating the Finnish Nature day. This year Finland also celebrates the 100th anniversary of independence. This is a fine day to release another Sielunmaisemia art video, finally.

This was one magical evening in a park located in Hietalahti, Vaasa, Finland. It was 13th of November 2010 and I got lucky with my old Canon PowerShot S5 camera capturing these views of falling snow. I'm glad that my camera survived and delivered this material in those humid and wet conditions without any extra protection, good job Canon :)

This was the very first and important moment which gave birth to the idea of project Sielunmaisemia. I experienced such beauty in complete silence and loneliness. It was a comforting and a very inspiring moment in my life.
